Nick Weekend 21/03/2003
Nick did a great job organising another of his weekends. This time we were in a little village called Clifton just south of Ashbourne. A bonus was that we were right next to the local pub. So it would have been churlish not to nip in and try the local ale. As often happens in the country, the publican didn't appear to understand the concept of licensing laws.
This led to a bit of a headache in the morning, but we still got out for quite a long ride, forty miles or so. The start was quite easy on disused railway line but it got hilly to the end. We had some good stops for drinks on the way, and food for the others.
In the evening we had a meal prepared for us by Pierce and Wendy, and then a number of us with the energy left popped down the pub. and finally Mike kept me company into the early hours teaching me a new card game. The next day saw a bracing walk along the hills. The weather for the weekend was fantastic, and we enjoyed a well earned ice cream along the route.
