I woke up without a hangover and packed my final kit. I then caught the bus and tube to Victoria and caught the gatwick express, £35 for a return. At Gatwick i met Andrew and we popped his kit in my bag and used the auto check in. The security procedure was also very fast and after getting some duty free we went to meet Jacob and Judith and Kyrstie and Trish and Bryan and Juzar and Ollie and Andy and Aimee. I had a pint and a dessert and then got on the easyjet flight for a three and a half hour flight to Agadir. When we got there we found we had to fill out a card to get into the country which caused a delay and some folks were so late at getting through the me Juzar and Andy had had two beers before they got through. We set off on a minibus and had another can of beer. This meant a toilet stop was necessary for some in Tiznit. We got to the new villa ok after dropping some folks off at the villa I stayed in last year. We had some nice tagines and we started in on the gin. It was nice to see Steve and Chris and Duncan again. The guys had some trouble leaving to go back to their villa as we couldn't work out the lock so they had to climb over the wall. I was sharing a room with Andy and Paul.
Up for breakfast at 9.30am after moroccan coffee and bread and eggs we popped in the van and were driven to the familiar beach. The forecast was for 7 to 11ft waves and they were pretty big. In the morning I went with the good group and I was actually doing pretty well popping up consistently load of times. The wetsuit i borrowed was great and the board a liquid shredder was very comfortable my chest didn't hurt at all. We stopped for lunch and we played volleyball with andrew and Rohan against me,Juzar and Helen. My team won eventually then it was time to eat lunch which was barbecued sausages and veg and bread. I didn't eat too much to be good in the afternoon. The afternoon was harder the waves were more broken and there were big holes you could fall down nevertheless i got up loads of times and had some really good waves. We finally had to coke out after a great day and we got some ice creams on the way back to the villa. I was first into the shower but didn't really get it warm. After a while we headed over to the other villa which i had stayed at last time. Then we hiked across to the hotel du sud. Which. was also the place we went to on the first night previously. This time they didn't serve beer though. I had a steak and sat with Helen and Terri. i had a coffee for dessert then went for beers in the hotel with Juzar, andy, paul, trish and Nicola. We had a couple at 25 dirhams a piece half the price inthe airport.we sorted.our kit aout and showered then went to the other chalet.
Pancakes for.breakfast at 9am. We got to the beach and got in for two hour long sessions with a water break in between. It was going quite well got a good few rides and tried some techniques. Poor Jude did her foot in and was carried out of the water. At lunchtime I started to play volleyball with the moroccan guys but 2 a side was very tiring. Luckily. andy, rohan and Juzar came down and after one game we played morocco vs england. They beat us. But it was a good game. In the afternoon a lot of folks went to the market or sunbathed, just me, Paul, andy and kyrstie got back in to do battle with the waves which were a little choppy and difficult to predict. We got the characteristic holes in the sand but those disappeared as we carried on. Andy went in first then Kyrstie. Then me and paul called it a day. We got ice cream on the way back.in the evening we headed to the hotel that served beer and found some of the guys had bought necklaces and bracelets and even a bonnet in Andy's case. We moved on after a couple of beers. But 3 of our number stayed for fish and chips. We were in a restaurant next to the one from the night before. We moved into an alcove. With me, andy, kyrstie and Jude with her leg in the air. We got two helpings of soup for starters and then we had kebabs for main course. I had a coffee for dessert. The surf guys joined us but when we tried to go to the hotel later for beers it was closed. We wandered back then and talked to the surf guys in our living room for quite a while.
Quite tired in the morning and struggled with the warm up. I went with the good group and chris and we paddled out through the rip when there was a lull and I managed to catch a bit of the green wave. But we only vot one go at it as conditions had changed so we joined the others. i could get up and did but was really lacking energy. At lunchtime after the fish meal it was really hard for me to walk down for volleyball but a bit of sun seemed to pick me up and I was ready to knock the ball around with the moroccan guy for quarter of an hour till the others joined us and we played morocco against england again. But unfortunately we lost two games again. But it was a good game. In the afternoon i had a little more energy for a while and got out to the back on my own but it took a lot of effort and I took a pounding. I then stuck to more manageable stuff and had some good rides but eventually my pop stopped popping and i went in just a few minutes before everyone finished. We then caught the bus back and had an ice cream, and duncan turned up to the villa with loads of beers , hurrah! we had a night in this night and loads of tagines were delivered. We sat outside and chatted while a group inside played charades. We actually didn't stay up that late.
A big day on the waves today Chris wanted to get some videos of us riding big waves so we. Got into the water pretty quickly and a number of folks got out to the green waves and got videod. I had a couple of practice goes in the shallow water but it was pretty tough the waves were big and consistent and I got washing machined once. And my glasses popped off but I found them before the next wave came along. I did then paddle out back and had a go at a green wave and chris caught me on video even though I only stood up briefly. We had lunch but it was getting so windy that volleyball was out of the question. In the afternoon we went back to the villa a lot of us as the conditions were getting harder and my muscles were quite tired. We rested in the afternoon and then briefly drank beer in the other villa on their roof. Before i set off to town to get some cash and meet Juzar at the hotel bar for 7pm. We were lucky enough to get a seat for us, simon, trish and helen but the others had to find another restaurant. I Had a good meal of soup, meatballs sausages and chips and then orange tart for dessert. The others joined us and we walked back to the Other villa were the surf guys were drinking with others and playing mobile phone games. We drank all the beer then i went back to our villa and got more beer but we drank all that too. Hussain was quite merry by then and we had drunk a number of shooters. I called it a day at 1.30 am as I could see it was going to get messy Chris had already cut himself on some barbed wire and trish was decorating people with lipstick. Andy and paul made it back by 3.30am.
Today was the rest day, breakfast which included cake was served at 10am. Shortly after that myself Juzar, Any and Simon were driven to the quadbike hire shop but the only had 3 bikes so we tossed a coin and Juzar lost and had to go back we set off after the guy on his little scooter and followed a dirt road away off into the hills beyond mirleft. We eventually came to A road and went along that and came back along the route we had gone along two years ago. We stopped a number of times and took some pictures. It was quite dusty and I wasn't sure if my narrative camera would get good pictures. We came back about 1pm and swapped the quad bikes with the others and shortly it was time for lunch which was couscous and vegetable stew. I then read my doc savage book a bit more and was about to go for a run when the heavens opened up as a big storm hit. Andy and paul looked a little drowned coming back from sea fishing. The rain really came down and the power went off briefly. We ordered in pizza and played card games and watched the rain pour down later the others arrived back from the town and the hamam and we stayed up till about 11.30am.
We drove to the beach and one of the roads had nearly been washed away. The waves were really huge when we got to the beach and we got in quickly. There was no option to go out back as the waves were so huge it was an effort to get to waist depth. I caught a few waves and was strong enough to pop up but the conditions were tough. Andy was doing well and me and Rohan kneeboarded in side by side. It was quite powerful though and i did nearly plough into andy whose head popped up in front of me. At the end of the session it was a rush to get round the point and not get washed into the rocks, i made it but juzar got cut and the others had to clamber over the rocks. The conditions were deteriorating and we had our lunch back at the villa as there was no chance of a n afternoon session. It rained continuously all afternoon nearly. There was a brief gap and me, Andy, terri, Andy and paul went down the stairs to the grand plage. I made a run for it, when I saw the thunder and lightning approach and I just made it before the torrential rain. In the evening, myself, simon, terri, andy and Paul went to the hotel in town. I had couscous poulet which was huge. We had quite a racey conversation with terri and then Simon the bar manager and the woman behind the bar jumped in the car and we headed back to the villa to join the party. The limbo game made an appearance and Chris was very good . then there was a lot of beatings for some reason. And we were all drawn on with lipstick and us blokes all took our tops off as per tradition. The beer really did run out this time and after more gins than was good I finally. Headed to bed.
I managed to briefly rise for 10am and got a pancake and a coffee, but there was no surfing to be done. So i went back to bed and listened to my podcasts for a while . it was still raining about 1pm when the remaining people for the Agadir flight got a lift from Hussain into town. We went to the hotel du sud again with all the Morocco memorabilia on the wall. I had couscous and chicken which was a huge portion that i couldn't finish. Back then to the chalet and after a bit of wifi we got into the bus and said goodbye to Steve and Chris. We drove through continuous rain to agadir and our driver nearly got in a fight with another driver. Jude had a wheelchair at the airport and we went through to shops which were good, but I had left my Dirhims for the cleaning ladies. The flight was a little delayed on take off but we had a tailwind so were not late.
