Sandy set off early to go with the walking group. Myself and Andrew got up later and had some breakfast. As we registered we saw Sandy leave. After kit check we went back to the house. We had breakfast and saw the eclipse of the sun. We went back to the tent for the 10 a.m briefing. We got on the buses about 10.30 and we traveled for an hour to the start. It was a good day with nice weather myself and Andrew set off at the head of the pack. I started to run up all the hills but a bit of a gap was developing so after golden cap and a few others I walked some of them. We made quite good time and saw some regulars such as mr knee. The checkpoints were well stocked but we found out that they were removing the single beach and putting in a path which will make the Jurassic a lot easier. We pushed on without too much trouble and maintained the steady pace off 1 mile running point one mile walking. We were going quite strong at the end and I had managed to stay dry all day then fell over at the last puddle . We got in in about 5 and a half hours about 20 minutes faster than last year. Sandy was already there as he had ran even though he was in the walking group and he was also faster. We had some free beer then went back to the house where we had chinese and more beer and watched kick ass 2 and the Expendables 3.
Up again at 7:30 a.m. I had some porridge and coffee and then we went down to register. The weather was good again today though a little blustery. We set off at 9 o'clock and ran to the first checkpoint in Portland. I chatted with a guy who had done the Thames path 10 times. We ran back round back to the start. I lost the guys coming down the steep hills then caught them on the flat. We set off around Weymouth without any problems though I did have to put a sticking plaster on just in case. We had an up and over and we finally hit the roller coaster. We were over taking quite a lot of people during the day. Andrew got a rush of blood to the head and started to run up one of the roller coaster hills. At the bottom of the last one I managed to get a slush puppy which revived me no end though I had wanted an ice cream. I ran down the final hill taking some video and managed to capture Andrew and Sandy coming in to the finish. We got back in the minibus to the tent and had some beer and chatted to Peter Cross also known as Mr Knee. We then had fish and chips for dinner and some ice cream and of course beer. We watched mister t on the telly and then we watched the Jackie Chan movies on the chrome cast.
I didn't feel too bad for the start on the last day. It was significantly colder than the previous days and occasionally I had to put on my jacket while running across the top. At the start there was a lot of Hills and our initial pace was quite slow but picked up during the day.We overtook a lot of people who wanted to know what our secret was. We got through the switchback nicely and I felt pretty strong. We finished strongly across the beach playing Rocky music and quickly got into the van for the journey back. On the drive home we stopped at a service station for some food, didn’t feel too bad.
