The alarm went off at 3 a.m. I had a quick shower and then I took the M25 to Aldwych. I had to wait for a couple of minutes before a bus went all the way to Heathrow Terminal 5. It was quite a smooth journey there and I picked up a lot of Ingress points on on the way. I got to the airport and it was quite a long queue for the BA flight but it wasn't too bad then I met Juzar in the bar and we had a couple of drinks before getting on the plane. I sat with David and Emma on the plane. The transfer took about an hour and a half to the alpine elements Hotel, The Bridge. After a welcome speech and sorting out of your activities for the week myself and Sandy set off for a run. It was really warm we went across the suspension bridge and we went up the mountain neon. Sandy was a bit stressed at the top but we had been up 1000 metres along the way. We got lost once or twice and had to scramble as usual. We came back and Sandy had two quick pints of beer to rehydrate. Dinner was at 8 p.m. and then after dinner just myself and Sandy went into town and we saw the Cavern bar where you could pull your own beer and the Tibetan bar which was a bit livelier. We came back and had another beer with a few people who were still up.
Up reasonably early as the room had no curtains that I was sharing with Tom. I had a bit of breakfast then after some farting about we set off on a long walk up the mountain we had run up the day before. It was very warm again and it was quite a long walk did over 8 miles to the top. We first walked along the valley to Morzine and then gradually started to climb the hill. Before the really steep bit we stopped at a restaurant and had a beer and played with their dogs. Then myself Sandy & Marie, David, Mark and Anne walked the last bit to the top of the cable car and the others caught the cable car up. Then we did the final few hundred metres to the top and took a lot of pictures. Nobody wanted to walk all the way down so we took a chairlift down the first bit. But myself and Mark walked the rest of the way back while the others waited for a gondola. Myself and Mark had an ice cream on the way down as well. Then spent quite a bit of time in the hot tub with Tom and susan and Terry. Dinner was quite nice with chicken. After dinner myself Sandy Marie and Kirsty skipped the wine tasting and went into town we found the bar Fromage which had a very impressive underground bit that we had all to ourselves. I had beer and their selection of cheeses which was quite good. Then Emma, Terry and Rachel joined us they went to the Tibetan bar then and we met them there and had shooters and then the manager bought us shooters. We then went to the Cavern bar for another beer where Emma knew some people. /b>
Canyoning today. It was quite warm but the canyon itself was out of the sun. they gave us very good kit including plastic pants . We drove down to a car park and got changed quickly to beat the other groups going to abseil. Their was a group ahead of us when we got to the bridge for the first abseil and the child with the group nearly had a hysterical fit. There was quite a lot of abseils and slipping and sliding at one point I went down on my own which I shouldn’t have done. I didn’t do the last jump as it looked like it was possible to hit the opposite wall. The last abseil was quite long and was through a waterfall so was quite challenging. A girl in our group slipped down most of the last bit of it. We then got changed in the sun in the car park and came back to the hotel and I picked up my mountain bike. I went for a short ride on the bike then had a bit of a kip. at 6 o'clock. I went with Emma and Kyla to play tennis and we had a good game Juzar joined us for doubles. In the evening we had dinner as usual then we went into town with the pub crawl which started off with sambuca Kaka kaka in the garden we then went to the cabin bar where we did a game with the cereal packet that Rachel won. Then some of us actually crawled to the next bar and it was so close. we had more shooters and we went to the coyote bar and people played pool and we ended up in the Opera nightclub where myself and Sandy bought a €110 bottle of vodka there was some dancing in a cage. I got chatted by a very attractive french girl who could only speak only speak french.
Got up quite late and went climbing with David and Emma and Terry we got in the van with Stefan the instructor and another family from another hotel. We got the routes set up for us and me and David just climbed on our own going up some top ropes that were in place. The second route we did was a 6a so it was lucky that I had borrowed Sandys climbing shoes which he had bought. Unfortunately in the middle of the Climbing it started to rain but we'd had a couple of good climbs. We came back and watched a bit of the Tour de France. In the evening we had BBQ which was ok then we braved the rain to go into town and watch the ice hockey game. After the game itself me and Emma went on to another bar where she had tried to get a job at a few years ago. It was quite busy for a Sunday but we could only have one drink and then it was time to go home.
I got out for breakfast and I went running with Sandy we ran up the other peak about 40 degrees it should have taken 3 hours to walk. Then I had a beer and some Hot Tub Time. After the hot tub myself Juzar, Alan and Kylie went to play volleyball with a couple of lads from the family. I thought it wasn't too bad at the end of the swimming pool, but it had a wooden Edge and the sand was quite hard also when you hit the ball too far it went down a slope. Came back to the hotel and had and had dinner and then just stayed in and played pool. Leo had managed to dislocate and break his little finger so that would mean a trip to the hospital tomorrow. In the evening we didn't go very far. I played pool with Alan against Juzar and David. We finally won and then went to bed.
Today was caving day the four of us. We were picked up by Frank who had done the canyoning. Myself Emma, Harry and David when we got to the place after a hair raising 35 minutes drive we met a French family and got changed into caving Gear. I put on my body armour, wetsuit socks and gloves all of which came in very handy, but were bit warm on the walk up to the cave. at the start it was very tame and Frank talked in French a lot but it picked up. Then we were climbing and sliding and abseiling a lot in clay and some water. we came back then to the hotel and after an ice cream I ran down to play tennis with Emma and Kyler and Sarah and and Gabriel. after dinner there was a beach party in the bar and Tom won the limbo game again. Then we went into town myself Tom, Harry, Louise and Rachel we just missed the rain and went to the bar above the Tibetan bar then the Tibetan bar and then the Opera nightclub we had had quite a few drinks by then and Tom was a bit drunk.
Got up a bit late met Emma and we caught the bus to the lake where we saw Burnie. But it was a bit cold so we got back on the bus and went to Le gets. Emma did some shopping then we got a coffee and ice cream in a restaurant she used to work at we caught the bus back into town and I went to play volleyball with Sandy and Kyler inches are and Allen it was a good game. We came back and prepared for the last night out.
I got up and got out by 10 a.m. myself and Juzar and dave and Susie went into town and we had bacon baps and coffee in the little shop Emma had shown me. Emma texted us in the shop after she had had her breakfast. We went on to a bar where we found a pool table and had a few games of pool. Then we went back to the hotel and caught the bus. It was a long drive back to the airport and I got a bit of sleep. We got through quickly into Geneva airport and I had a little bit of food to eat in the food court. The flight was uneventful and our bags were waiting when I got back to Heathrow and then I quickly ran for the tube as we had been delayed by about an hour due to bad weather.
