We awoke at an ungodly hour and quickly tried to eat some breakfast before catching a taxi to the village hall. We were quite early before 6:30 a.m. We registered quickly and got a seat before the hall filled up. We were quite comfortable and relaxed but disappointed that we could not get a cup of coffee. We had to walk down to a lane to set off. when we did set off it was quite slow going initially. We just kept going and used our method of stopping every 0.9 miles. Everything went pretty smoothly the weather was good and not too warm. However as we progressed the heat did start to pick up which began to give Sandy a bit of a problem. We stopped at a number of checkpoints I managed to get an ice cream van at one and had some more ice cream at another. We met Abbey and Marie at the top of Box Hill. We had a short break there but then carried on. I was feeling pretty good without any problems but as we got to 30 miles Sandy began to suffer more. The others eventually pushed on a bit and I stayed with Sandy. We caught them up a couple of times at the checkpoints but then they soon got ahead of us again. I played Sandy some music to help him along and we kept going. Finally we could see the finish line but had to run all the way around in the loop to get to it. We made it though and Abby, cat and Marie were waiting for us. They even had a can of beer for us. We quickly got changed in the village hall and I went to the shop and got more beer for the journey. Myself and adam caught a taxi with a couple to the station and got a train back to London.
