A very civilised hour for departure for this trip, met Rob
and Mike and Angela at the airport, and had a couple of beers
at the metro bar with Uri before setting off, uneventful flight saw us
arrive 3 and a half hours later in Turkey, we coughed up our tenner
to get into the place, and then set off by coach to the palm beach
Sandwiches and drinks at the bar awaited us and we soon got
chatting to folks, 1 am we made the usual trip to pito's which hadn't
changed much, which was good. However a lot of people semed to be quite
tired by the trip and I ended up leaving at what would have been 2am
This meant I got up early for the briefs and tried some
turkish breakfast for the first time, water polo then at 12,30, I was
on a team with Richard and Rob and I managed to score the winning goal
which was good, before going for a run whilst the others had dinner.
lunch watched the aqua noodle, hilarious, think I'll give that one a miss,
after a brief break it was then time for vollyball, very good turnout with 3
teams, and a good standard as well, very windy though, after a quick refreshment
break with Richard, it was time for football, I was in team with Dean and Stephen,
and we won all ours games, though I didnt have much to do in goal I kept a clean
Dinner was next and the wine fairy visited our table very frequently, after
dinner we took part in a quiz at the beach bar. My team of Angela, Rob, Andy and
Mike missed out by one point on winning some champagne. Quite a bit more drinking
then and we were last too leave the bar to go to Pitos. I then had a few more
beers with Hugh and Sandra and John in the bar before fnally leaving.
saw more water polo my team with Rob and Richard was unbeaten, and then I went
for quite a long run up the hillsides. Beach volleyball again later less numbers
meant longer games and the wind was a bit less. Afterwards we played a bit of
touch rugby just me and Rob. After lunch, we were entertained by a fashion
show and then some belly dancing Tony was particularly good. Later we nipped
along to the beach bar for a few quiet drinks.
Next day saw myself and Rob on
opposite sides on the warterpolo and a close fought draw, after a very quick run,
I then set off for the turkish baths, with John, Yvonne and Alison. it was quite
an experience and I also had the very close turkish shave. didn't get back in
time for volleyball, but I scored the winning goal in footbll against Rob in
goal. After dinner all of spice set off for the beach bar, were the locals
were trying to have a quiet toga party when 100 spicers descended upon them,
we danced and then played drinking games to the police's roxanne till 4am. Hard
work getting up in the moring but did manage to make water polo were we had
a convincing win this time. After that swam for about 40 mins out to the
island and back, whith Sean, it wasn't too tiring though felt a bit sick
afterwards due to the salt water, volleyball then with a large proportion
of staff playing we had a really good game. Later I played in the social
men's tennis, was nice to meet Ron again from the dancing weekend in wales,
who was a demon on the tennis court. After tennis there was a bbq on the
beach front which was very pleasant n the sunset. Midnight was time to
get on the boat and off to Bodrum, for the worlds largest floating disco
on a cartamaran. It had a glass bottomed floor, so it was interesting to
dance with fish beneath your feet. At 4am we got a ferry back to bodrum.
Water polo to start the day, Richard won the penalty shootout single handed
saving all the shots and scoring the only goal. After my usual cornetto I
read Andy's book the cuirious incident of the dog in the nightime rather
than go for a run, then it was time to play the staff at volleyball. Even
without Richard and Rob we managed to hold them to a draw. Football was
just me Fish and another chap knocking the ball about as a lot of the
others went to the market. After dinner we had school disco games in the bar,
I partook of a boatrace, North versus South but the north cheated badly, doh!
Then on the coach into bodrum with, Sandra, Angela, Richard, Sean and some
others for the worlds largest outdoor foam party, there was also an impressive
show with some very acrobatic breakdancers.
Next morning was staff vs guests
warerpolo at which we scored a moral victory, but the ref was against us. Final run,
then final game of volleyball, small numbers but probably most skillful game, with loys of rallies.
Even 3 a side was a good game. Skipped the final football session to try an avoid injury, and headeded
down the bar early as the dinner was put forward to accomodate the England game, after
dinner myself and Sean walked into Turgeitreis to wathed the footaball on english TV
at the Tuana bar with a very energetic waiter. Unfortunately England lost 2-1 but we weren't to
despondent on the walk home along the beach with Richard and Elaine and a few others we met at the
bar, we chilled out at the pool bar and Pito's for a while before retiring.
Next day just saw time for a run as there was
no waterpolo on the transfer day, then we all said our goodbyes to the lucky spicers staying the extra week.
